LGBTQIA+ Counselling in Folkestone

LGBTQIA+ Affirming Counselling in Folkestone & Online

I offer LGBTQIA+ affirming counselling in Folkestone (CT20) and online across Kent and the UK. My practice is LGBTQIA+ centred, meaning I recognise that our sexuality, gender identity and other social identities are not separate from our emotional wellbeing — they are woven into how we experience the world.

As a member of the queer community myself, I understand that therapy can sometimes feel uncertain or unsafe if you’re unsure whether a therapist will “get it.” My aim is to offer a space where you don’t need to explain or justify your identity in order to be understood.

You Might Be Seeking Support With:

  • Gender identity and exploration

  • Coming out or navigating disclosure

  • Internalised homophobia or shame

  • Queer relationships and non-traditional relationship structures

  • Family rejection or strained relationships

  • Navigating the world as an LGBTQIA+ person

  • Anxiety, depression, or trauma connected to identity

You don’t need to be in crisis to begin counselling. Sometimes it’s simply about having a space where your whole self is welcome.

How I Work

I am an integrative psychotherapist, meaning I draw from different therapeutic approaches to create something responsive to you.

Our work may include:

  • Exploring how early experiences and attachment patterns influence current relationships

  • Gently unpacking internalised messages about identity

  • Using Internal Family Systems to explore parts of you that hold fear, shame or protection

  • Drawing on DBT-informed skills and mindfulness to support emotional regulation and grounding

The therapeutic relationship is central. We move at a pace that feels manageable, collaborative and safe.

A Safe and Affirming Space

I offer in-person counselling in Folkestone and online sessions across the UK. My practice is committed to:

  • LGBTQIA+ affirmation

  • Gender-affirming language

  • Respect for non-binary and trans identities

  • Awareness of intersectionality

You are not “too much,” “too complex,” or “too confused” to begin.
